Mirror mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?

One of Sikap Association's creative ideas of reuniting Filipinos in Bilbao Spain every once in a while is the pageant, Mrs. Filipinas Euskadi where moms who have the guts to show the world that they are more than what other people think they are get to compete with each other in different categories. Not just by beauty, but by their talents, sociability, confidence, how they bring up an outfit and brains. Each one of them sure have a woman's face, yet a with a man's side of being "palaban".

The pageant took place last July 8, 2012 at Teatro Andres Issasi, Las Arenas, Getxo expecting to start by 6:30 pm. But since we are all familiar with what we call "Filipino Time", it started by like past 7pm already.

Anyway, the place is so nice. Teatro kung teatro because of the comfy chairs, the stage, the balcony and stuffs. I feel like I'm in mini-broadway. hehe!

We arrived there before 5pm with tita Josie and tita Alma because performers are needed to have a practice on stage. Me and my sister sang a duet with the song "That's the way it is" by Celine Dion after the contestants had their National Costume catwalk. Before anything started, we were so nervous that we might fall on/off stage with our skyhigh heels or might jumble the lyrics or might forget it, even forget where we are. hehe. However, I enjoyed being on stage naman. After the showing of the contestant's Long Gown, my sister sang another song, this time, a solo of the song "Forever's not enough" by Sarah Geronimo. I also enjoyed watching other performers of all ages! There were kids, teens, and below 80's who could sure still dance their butts off. We had another relative who was also part of the show, and that was Tito Manny, traditionally singing a sweet song for the contestents while giving each of them a bud of rose with stem. Great job tito manny!

The judges agreed on who really deserved to land in each category criticizing the beautyqueens' performances, on how they felt confident with what they did, no matter what they wore, on who really won the audience's hearts, and of course, who really stood out.

For Mrs. Popularity, Mrs. Marose (#2) claimed the sash for having more than a thousand likes on her photo in facebook. That sure is a lot of "pa-like" from supporters. Anyway, it's worth it!

Not agreeing if what she wore was really appropriate for that sport, but Mrs. Lyra (#6) proudly showed her petite beach-chic body with a blue bikini while holding a goggles. She totally brought it on. Ooh, I envy those abs!

Sometimes, it's really hard socializing with other people, yet Mrs. Loradell (#1) earned the Most Friendly award. I can see that every contestant agrees that the sash was really meant for her when they all clapped the moment her name was announced and as she steps in front to have it worn. Yay for Mrs. Congeniality!

We all know that all of them are talented with the singing while playing the guitar and doing some beats, dancing, and acting, but Mrs. Richelyn (#7) caught the judges' attention with her folk dancing of Tinikling then switch to modern, taking off her baro at saya, leaving the shorts and top showing her belly on. She also bagged the Mrs. Photogenic award. She sure is pretty. Simplicity is beauty.

Embracing our culture, one of the categories was dressing up with the Philippines' National Costume, Mrs. Marichu (#5) made an impression to the judges with her stripey red dress with a pinoy handmade bag, a red feathered head dress, with some non metal accessories plus a baby slinged on her back with a white cloth. That sure is impressive.

Glamorously speaking, the Shalani-look a like claimed to have the most stunning evening long gown with her single strapped blue dress. Everybody loves a "simple lang pero may dating" look. She is by the way Mrs. Gemma (#3).

Three ladies were recognized once again to own another title one could be proud of. Mrs. Richelyn (#7) landed the 2nd runner up, followed by Mrs. Lyra (#6) as the 1st runner up and Mrs. Marichu (#5) reigned as Mrs. Filipinas Euskadi 2012, being crowned by Ms. Garland, Ms. Euskadi 2011.

Congratulations to everyone. Aim high, Pinay! -modess ;)
